My love for real estate and architecture began early in life. My mother was a broker in Wisconsin, and as a teenager, I often joined her on home tours and helped with photography. I still remember her baking bread, cookies, and her famous cheesecake for special open houses.

One sale of hers stands out as a clear foreshadowing of what was to come — a Frank Lloyd Wright original. I loved it from the moment I walked in. True to Wright’s design philosophy, it had low ceilings, small bedrooms, and even smaller closets — but I was captivated. She sold it for what would now be the cost of a modest car, and that deal still haunts me… what an investment it would have been.

Years later, while living in Los Angeles, my appreciation for Southern California modernist architecture deepened. The work of Richard Neutra, John Lautner, and Buff & Hensman epitomized the timelessness of great design. I was fortunate enough to bid on (and nearly buy) two Buff & Hensman homes — proof that once design captures you, it never lets go.
